Things you must do when in Jaipur

Amer Fort -

Visiting Amer fort while in Jaipur is a must. The size and the beauty of the iconic Amer fort will definitely leave you in awe. To add on to your experience here, take an elephant ride up the hilly path to the fort’s entrance. You can also enjoy the light and sound show that happens here every evening.

City palace -

Coming to the royal city and not going to the royal family’s residence is unacceptable. City palace is a work of art with its amazing courtyards, gardens, museums which displays royal garments worn by previous kings, and the famous entrance gates. While visiting the palace you must also fuel up at the Baradari restaurant located in the palace itself.

Jantar Mantar –

Right next to the city palace is the fascinating Jantar Mantar. It as an ancient astronomical observatory which displays various instruments with varied uses like: telling time, discovering the position of pole star, forecasting the time of sunrise and sunset, etc.

Hawa Mahal -

It is the building of windows. Hawa Mahal has a total of 953 small windows which were designed for the royal ladies to watch everyday life and festivals celebrated outside on the streets without being seen by the public. The monument now houses little shops and artists that you can see while visiting.

Right next to the city palace is the fascinating Jantar Mantar. It as an ancient astronomical observatory which displays various instruments with varied uses like: telling time, discovering the position of pole star, forecasting the time of sunrise and sunset, etc.

Nahargarh Fort -

This is the perfect place to enjoy the view of the city from. You can opt for early morning treck to watch the sunrise or even enjoy the night view while having dinner in the Padao restaurant here.

Jaigarh Fort -

The fort houses the world’s largest cannon on wheels called ‘Jaivana Cannon’. This cannon has been fired only once and it is said that the noise was so loud that all the people present there lost their hearing after the launch.

Jal Mahal -

Jal Mahal as the name suggests is a palace on water. It is built in the middle of the Man Sagar Lake and is a true archeological wonder. Entry to the palace is restricted but you can take a boat ride to enjoy a closer view.

Walled city walk and shopping-

Walk through the walled city of Jaipur and pamper the shopaholic inside you. Bapu bazaar and Johri bazar are the best places to shop all the local products of Jaipur including silver jewelry, block print clothes, leather bags and jutis.

Chokhi Dhani -

Chokhi Dhani is an ethnic village themed resort where you can experience a slice of Rajasthan’s rural lifestyle and culture, filled with folk dances, puppet shows, arts and crafts, music, and more. The icing on the cake is the host of authentic Rajasthani delicacies served here that are a must-try.

Lassiwala -

No doubt the best lassi in India. Lassiwala has been in business since 1944 and not a single lassi served here has missed the mark. It is a must try when in Jaipur but make sure to reach early in the day or else you might come back empty stomach.

Samrat ke samosa -

One of the best samosa one can have in Jaipur. You will always find this place packed with foodies enjoying all the great street food sold here. You can also try their aloo tikki and other chaats.

Rawat ki kachori-

Pyaaz Kachori is a must-try when it comes to things to eat in Jaipur. Once you taste these high-on-calorie-but-even-higher-on-taste kachoris you won't be able to stop eating it. The most known place in Jaipur for this delectable item is Rawat Mishthan Bhandar.
